Biography

Born in Lausanne (Switzerland) in 1978, the pianist and conductor Antoine Rebstein begins his piano studies at the Conservatoire de Lausanne where he obtains his Diploma in 1995. He continues his studies of piano with Galina Iwanzowa at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin (Diplom Instrumentalist/Diplom-Instrumentalpädagoge) and between 2000 and 2006 with Hans Leygraf at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

Antoine Rebstein is laureate of many international competitions. He has regularly given concerts in Switzerland and abroad such as Wigmore Hall in London, Concertgebow in Amsterdam, Tonhalle in Zurich, Mozarteum in Salzburg or Preston Bradley Hall in Chicago and in 2003, he gives his «Début» recital at the Lucerne Festival. As a soloist, he has been invited by numerous orchestras and famous conductors such as Jesus Lopez Cobos, Dmitrij Kitajenko, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, David Zinman.

2006, Antoine Rebstein records at Claves Record the CD «Piano Left Hand Recital» honoured by a 5- Diapason Award  and which obtains enthusiastic international press reviews.

After his studies of choir conducting at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, he works with the orchestra conductor Rolf Reuter for the entrance examination to the class of orchestra conducting of Prof. Christian Ehwald at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. 2009, he obtains the intermediate diploma of orchestra conducting.

He co-founded the chamber orchestra "Ensemble Cully Classique, which he conducted at a Festival on Lake Geneva during the summers of 2007, 2008 and 2009. In Berlin, he takes part at the project «a night in Venice» of Johann Strauss organized by the Komische Oper.
Antoine Rebstein takes part in Masterclasses given by Maestro Jesus Lopez Cobos in Madrid and 2009 in Lausanne with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and «Cosi Fan Tutte».

In April 2010, he is invited to a Masterclass in Zurich given by Maestro David Zinman with the Tonhalle Orchestra.
Since October 2009, he is the artistic director of the Young Orchestra of the Freie Universität Berlin (non-professional symphonic orchestra).
